Jeff Anderson

Executive Director

Jeff was the co-founder and the Campaign Manager of Cleantech and Green Business for Obama (CT4-O), a national constituency group that organized the cleantech and green business community in support of Obama campaign. In this capacity, Jeff helped build and manage an organization that: conducted events in all 50 states in which over 7000 people participated; raised over $1.6 million for the Obama campaign, and; assisted the campaign in identifying messaging and media opportunities that highlighted the economic benefits from Obama’s call to build the new energy economy. After the election, Jeff and CT4-O were actively involved with the transition team providing input on policy, appointments, and messaging opportunities.

Immediately prior to the Obama campaign, Jeff was the President and CEO of CleanTech Bay a trade association that was in development to represent the clean technology sector in the San Francisco Bay Area. This launch ready project was suspended in July 2008 to avoid potential conflicts with the public launch of CT4-O. Previously, Jeff was the California Co-Chair of the 2008 John Edwards for President Campaign and was also the Chair of its CleanTech and Green Business Advisory Group, which advised the campaign on policy development and messaging strategies in the areas of energy and climate change. Prior to that, he was a Founder and Principal of Ignition Point LLC, a strategic consulting and coaching firm for small and medium size businesses.   He was also CFO and Senior Vice President of Informania, Inc, an e-learning company which he successfully merged with Viviance, Inc, a European e-learning company. He began his professional career as the Environmental Director for Building Diagnostics Ltd, an environmental and engineering consulting firm.

Jeff holds a Masters in Business Administration (M.B.A.) from Columbia University, a Master of Laws degree in Environmental and Energy law (LL.M.) from Pace University School of Law, and a law degree (J.D.) from Thomas M. Cooley School of Law. As an undergraduate, Jeff attended Michigan State University, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) in International Relations. 

Laura Bartsch

Network Co-Director

Laura Bartsch is Co-Founder and Principal of Millville Partners, a strategic marketing consultancy focused solely on the clean economy. She was formerly Co-Executive Director of REBN, the Renewable Energy Business Network. Laura's passion for helping others develop, communicate and execute their ideas led to the creation of Millville Partners. She has over twenty years' experience in design, marketing and branding, strategic planning and facilitation, project management and client relations.

Laura was a Senior Associate at TFH Architects, a Project Manager at Bergmeyer Associates, Inc., and Facilities Project Manager and a member of the Senior Management Team at the International School of Boston (formerly Ecole Bilingue). She has consulted on strategy, design and communication for clients such as Austin Architects, VistaPrint, and Fortunato & Associates. Laura graduated from Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) with a degree in architecture.

In addition to her professional experience, Laura was an appointed member of the Zoning Board of Appeals in Portland, Maine. Laura is an active alumna volunteer for St. Paul's School, and serves on the Alumni Association Executive Committee.

Helen Fairman

Network Co-Director

Helen Fairman is Co-Founder and Principal of Millville Partners, a strategic marketing consultancy focused solely on the clean economy. She was formerly Co-Executive Director of REBN, the Renewable Energy Business Network. Helen has been at the intersection of design, project management, and marketing since 1991, when she started her training in the design program at Crate & Barrel. After several years as a Store Designer, she left for a career in product development at Boston Warehouse, a $35 million housewares wholesaler, eventually becoming Director of Product Development. In 2004, she entered the world of energy efficiency and sustainable building as Marketing Manager at Cimetrics Inc. Helen has a personal interest in promoting innovative approaches to environmental sustainability. She graduated from Harvard with honors in Visual and Environmental Studies. Helen served on the 2008/2009 Cambridge Energy Smackdown team, as well as several volunteer committees for the City of Cambridge.

LIZ GILCHRIST

Development Director

Liz has been a professional fundraiser in the non-profit community for more than 15 years.  She most recently served as Director of Major Gifts and Planned Giving for the National Organization for Women (NOW), the largest grassroots feminist organization in the US.  She also worked for Greenpeace USA as Major Gifts Manager for more than seven years.  Prior to becoming a full-time fundraiser, Liz spent the first 14 years of her professional life as a civil rights and Legal Services lawyer in Mississippi, primarily as a federal litigator.

Liz has been an activist with a number of environmental and social justice organizations for the last three decades.  She is a member of the national Boards of Directors of both Greenpeace Inc and Greenpeace Fund, and serves on the Audit, Finance and Investment, and Strategic Planning Committees.  She has been a board member of both the Mississippi and Virginia affiliates of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), and currently serves on the Development, Planning, Audit and Investment committees of the Virginia affiliate, as well as the Pat Arnold Women's Rights Fund advisory committee.  Since 2005, she has been elected annually to represent Virginia on the ACLU National Board of Directors.

Liz holds a JD degree from Emory University and a BA degree in sociology and political science from the University of North Carolina.

TIM GREEFF

Policy Director

Tim joined CEN after serving as Deputy Legislative Director for the League of Conservation Voters. He brings ten years of experience in environmental policy and advocacy, including work at the local, state, and federal levels, as well as experience working with government agencies.  He has particular expertise in energy policy, including global warming, clean energy, and energy efficiency, as well as traditional forms of electricity generation such as coal, natural gas, and nuclear power.  Tim has a deep understanding of the federal legislative process and numerous relationships both on Capitol Hill and in key regions across the country.

Jeffrey King

Deputy Executive Director

Jeffrey King was most recently a Director at Pacific Crest Securities, the preeminent investment bank covering the technology markets. King was responsible for the development of an advanced research product for the portfolio managers of institutional investors delivering thought leadership around technology, including clean tech. King was a founding member of the Steering Committee of Cleantech and Green Business for Obama, a national constituency group that organized the cleantech and green business community in support of the Obama campaign. Based in Portland, Oregon, King is a member of the Sustainability Committee of the Oregon Business Plan, the Business and Finance Committee of the Oregon Business Association, and sustainable business advisor to Portland Mayor Sam Adams and Oregon Treasurer Ben Westlund as well as Chair of the Working Group for the Oregon Energy Efficiency and Sustainable Technology Act (EEAST), a state-wide program to accelerate and scale retrofit and renewable energy projects in the current built environment.

Steven miles

Legal Advisor

Steven Miles serves as the outside legal advisor to the Clean Economy Network Inc. Steve heads Baker Botts' firmwide Project Development and Finance section, which is comprised of some 50 attorneys worldwide. His practice focuses on the energy sector in the United States and internationally, including renewable and alternative energy industries. He is listed in the Chambers USA Guide America's Leading Business Lawyers, in The Best Lawyers in America, and in Super Lawyers, among other leading rating publications. He has been selected six times as one of the leading project finance attorneys worldwide by publishers of the International Financial Law Review. Steve received his J.D. degree from Cornell Law School in 1984, where he was an editor of the Cornell Law Review. He earned his Master of Business Administration from Cornell University in 1984 and his B.A. (summa cum laude) from Union College in Schenectady, New York.
